Summertime in the Midwest marks end of the never-ending snowmageddon winter that was 2015, the Cubs still have a shot at the World Series, and Chicagoans can finally come out of hibernation and find their favorite outdoor hot spots to dine in the great outdoors in Chicago.
Chicago feels like it is the vibrant capitol of the Midwest, and I love exploring the city and making new discoveries along the way. After all the years I have been traveling to Chi-Town, I still get the feel like Chicago is a big city with a small-town feel.
One great way to discover the neighborhoods of Chicago and the various rhythms that are the pulse of the city is to check out some of the places to have a meal, sip some cocktails and get in some serious people watching. Check some of my favorite places to dine in the alfresco in Chicago.

Escape to the Terranea Resort and Spa and get lost for a few days right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.
Sometimes a getaway weekend is in order and finding a place to escape in Los Angeles can be a daunting task. Whether you are traveling from another part of the globe or an Angelino looking for a weekend “staycation”, visiting the Terranea Resort is like stumbling into a whole new world.
Since opening five years ago on the former site of the Marineland water park in Ranchos Palos Verdes and reading great things about the Terranea Resort, I have been wanting to see for myself how this hotel stacked up. Still, so many in L.A. or elsewhere that I spoke with did not know this place existed. So, I finally had to check out this seemingly mystical place for myself.
After writing an article for my friends at the Ford Motor Company, I had the privilege to stay a couple nights at the Terranea Resort on Ford’s dime, however all of these opinions are my own. My wife and I got a chance to experience all of what this luxury property has to offer their guests.
