Travel to Paris with myself, and my new bride in a three part series of articles on one of the most romantic cities in the world, as we rented an apartment in the Le Maris for ten days on our honeymoon in Paris.
Paris is truly the most unique city in the world, it is the launching point to so many things we do or eat or even talk about all over the world.
When you are walking the streets of Paris you cannot only see the history of the city, you can smell and taste the diversity, the richness and the culinary history that some of the finest chefs have created in this city. French food that have shaped so much of how we eat in many cultures around the world can be traced back to Paris.
Walking the streets in Paris almost feels like you have been transported to so many of the French films you have been watching all your life – French films that help you escape and dream of walking the historic streets yourself. You can almost get a sense that diversity and acceptance of other cultures or lifestyles was invented in Paris. In fact counter culture views, protests and the sexual revolution have origins in Paris.
Modern Paris is full of culturally rich and diverse neighborhoods to explore and get lost in its customs, language and of course the food.
One must have meal to experience in Paris has to be the falafels at L’As du Fallafel in the Jewish District of the city and right around the corner from our apartment we rented for the week. Lenny Kravitz loves these heavenly and messy delights, it says so on the sign outside as you gorge your falafel while sauce drips down your arm and on the street below.
Finding a food affair is easy and you will collect many all over the city. Amazing and wonderful food is everywhere in Paris, and once again you will get that “I’m in a movie” feeling again as you eat yet another fresh baked baguette and French cheese along Siene River.
Love comes in many forms in Paris and it truly does have the feel of one of the most romantic cities on the planet. Even so, if you are any kind of romantic and love to get lost in a city of fine wine, stunning architecture and of course the amazing food; Paris very much lives up to the reputation it has been known for since world started keeping stats on love.
Discovering love is easy to do in Paris, because it seems like any place you turn there may be flocks of lovers from all parts of the world and then you understand why “love” can be such an international language.
Taking a stroll through the streets of Paris is by far the best way to absorb the culture. A couple of great romantic parks and cool people watching spots in the city are Place Des Vosges, located in the 4th arrondissement and the Jardin du Luxembourg, located in the 6th arrondissement. Relax in L’ amour.
Paris is a city you can fall in love over and over again. Whether you visit only once in your life or have been a million times before – if you can get lost and not follow the guidebooks – you may just open up the finer, authentic and romantically drenched Paris. Time to get lost and immersed.
